1. Harwich to Hook of Holland (Stena Line)

Stena Line's route from Harwich to Hook of Holland is the most direct ferry connection between the UK and the Netherlands. Pets can travel in onboard kennels or in pet-friendly cabins, which must be booked in advance due to limited availability. Foot passengers with pets are required to reserve a kennel or pet-friendly cabin. An outdoor pet exercise area is available onboard.

2. Newcastle to IJmuiden (DFDS Seaways)

DFDS Seaways offers an overnight ferry from Newcastle to IJmuiden, near Amsterdam. Pets can stay in designated pet-friendly cabins or in onboard kennels, known as the "pet hotel." These facilities must be booked in advance. Note that foot passengers with pets are not permitted on this route.

3. Hull to Rotterdam (P&O Ferries)

P&O Ferries operates an overnight service from Hull to Rotterdam. Pets can travel in onboard kennels or in pet-friendly cabins, subject to availability. As with DFDS, foot passengers with pets are not permitted on this route.


Travel Options with Your Dog

By Car

On Foot

Stena Line is the only operator among the three that allows foot passengers to travel with pets. Foot passengers must book a pet-friendly cabin or kennel in advance. Pets are not permitted in public areas such as restaurants and shops.
